Miss. State Hospital Director Named
to Miss. Hospital Association's Board of Governors

WHITFIELDThe Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA)
recently named James G. Chastain, CHE, director of Mississippi
State Hospital (MSH) in Whitfield, to its Board of Governors
for 2002-2003.
MHA was formed in 1931 to promote and protect the interests
of its more than 100 member hospitals and health systems and
their 50,000 employees.
"James Chastain was chosen to serve on the Mississippi
Hospital Association Board of Governors because of the great
respect he has earned in the hospital community and the behavioral
health profession. His knowledge of behavioral health care
and issues that affect behavioral health care will be a great
tool for the MHA Board," said Sam Cameron, MHA president/CEO.
Chastain has long been actively involved in MHA. He currently
serves as president of MHA's Jackson-Vicksburg Hospital Council
and is a board member of the MHA Society of Behavioral Health.
He is a past member of MHA's Finance Committee.
Dedicated to mental health care and community service, Chastain
chairs the Mental Health Association of the Capital Area Golf
Tournament Steering Committee which organizes the annual James
C. Stubbs Memorial Golf Classic, the association's annual
fund-raising event. He is also an Advisory Board member for
the Mississippi Arts Fair for the Handicapped.
Chastain has served as director of MSH since 1993. He is licensed
as a mental health therapist and nursing home administrator
and is a diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
