Founded in 1987, Friends of Mississippi State Hospital, Inc., is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the work of Mississippi State Hospital (MSH) and informing the public of mental illness and the needs of the mentally ill. Friends helps enhance quality of life by offering a variety of events and programs for Mississippi State Hospital's patients, staff, Community Services consumers and Jaquith Nursing Home residents. Since its inception, Friends of MSH has grown to a dedicated and caring membership of 575 individuals from the hospital staff and support personnel, members of civic and service groups, family members of patients, and individuals from communities in nearly every county served by MSH.
